I am a 20 year old History student at the University of Birmingham and am from Sale, Manchester. I do my best to get to as many games as possible, whether that’s watching the teams I support or random games that I fancy going to.
Who do you support?
Living a short distance away from Old Trafford and growing up in a family full of Reds, I have been a Manchester United fan all my life. I have been fortunate enough to live through the good times under Fergie, and not so fortunate in recent years. I have been a season-ticket holder for a year now. I have also followed Altrincham FC since 2011, going home and away as much as possible.
How many grounds have I been to?
Overall, I have visited 30 football stadiums. Most of these are non-Ieague grounds across the north of England and a few random grounds abroad. I have only done 9 of the 92, which is a disappointing figure but an understandable one seen as though I follow a Premier League team. Hoping to bump up that number once we can go to games again!
Best game I’ve ever been to?
I’d have to say Manchester United v Real Madrid in the Champions League in 2013 because of the importance of the game and Real being the biggest team I’ve seen play at Old Trafford. The atmosphere on that Champions League night was unreal and it was good getting to see Ronaldo play live again. That said, going out in the manner we did, with Nani wrongly getting set off, was very hard to take. I was never really used to seeing United lose back in 2013.
First game you ever went to?
Manchester United versus Crystal Palace in December 2004. Sadly, I don’t remember much, although United did score 5 goals that day.
Best Ground You’ve Been to?
Apart from Old Trafford, I’d say Villa Park. A traditional English football ground, and always an unbelievable atmosphere there, especially in the Holte End.
