I know what you’re thinking, surely I didn’t actually go to a Football League game..
If you follow my blog then you will know that I normally only go to non league games, but this week was finally different.
Admittedly we were supposed to be going to Sandhurst, but that was called off so Adams Park was to be our new destination.
Wycombe have been fighting it out at the top of League One and Rochdale have had a couple of good cup runs, so Saturdays game was set to be an entertaining affair.
We had a pretty seamless journey there, and found a good car park just five minutes from the ground.
The game started with Rochdale on the front foot and they actually endeavored to play some decent football.
Despite their willingness to play good football, Rochdale took the lead in a fairly fortuitous way.
The goal came after Ian Henderson chased a backpass and blocked an attempted clearance from Ryan Allsop and the ball looped into the net.

Wycombe’s equaliser came equally fortuitously, when Jason McCarthy’s attempted cross went straight in at the far post.
The game played out pretty decently and it is always interesting to see goals go in like this, so at half time we were pretty happy.
The second half took a very interesting pattern, with Rochdale keen on playing out from the back and Wycombe looked to counter attack whenever possible.
There weren’t too many clear cut chances to report but the game looked like it had another goal in it.
Just as Balham did last week, the home side grabbed a winner in the last minute…
Rochdale’s young Right Back Luke Matheson committed a cynical foul in the box and Wycombe were awarded a penalty with mere seconds left on the clock.
Joe Jacobson stepped up and put the penalty away, sending the home fans into jubilation.

Wycombe had finally arrested their poor run of form and put themselves back in contention at the top of the table.
I would recommend a trip to Adams Park, its easy to get to and parking was convenient, and it was cheap for the level of football.
Thanks for reading, have a great week!
