Another Chelmsford away day, another defeat, but this is probably the worst of the lot.
To be honest we really should have seen this coming, Corinthian Casuals had not won all season before Saturday and they had lost all of their home games.
Secondly, there was engineering works going on meaning that we couldn’t get to Tolworth station, which meant we had to walk from Surbiton (2 and a half miles).
The walk wasn’t actually too bad because thankfully it was a nice day and there was a Tesco Express on the way. It also gave us the opportunity to walk off our KFC and discuss the 5 biggest derbies in England.
When we got to the ground we were pleasantly surprised as we were not asked for student ID on the gate, despite graduating in the summer, so that saved us £6.
And just 30 seconds into the game Chelmsford were awarded a penalty and this gave us hope of seeing the Clarets win for the first time since January.
Obviously it was missed and from then on Chelmsford put in a pitiful performance and the Casuals played well to win 2-0.
This really was a day to forget for the Chelmsford fans, and for much of the second half they were shouting abuse at everyone and anyone (including eachother).
But anyway fair enough to Corinthian Casuals, I have now seen them play three times and I am yet to see them concede a goal.
Meanwhile Chelmsford need to have a long think about what steps they take next, as their season is all but over.
